Expert Tips for Best results!
- Use ripe bananas – The riper, the better! Spotty, brown bananas add the best natural sweetness and flavour.
- Don’t overmix the batter – Gently fold everything together until just combined. Overmixing can make the bread dense instead of soft and fluffy.
- Add extra chocolate on top – Because let’s be honest, there’s no such thing as too much chocolate!
- Let it cool before slicing – I know it’s hard to wait, but letting it cool completely gives you those perfect, clean slices.
- Bake it at the right temperature – Every oven is different, so check with a toothpick. If it comes out clean or with a few moist crumbs, it’s ready!
How to make Easy Chocolate Chip Banana Bread?

Step 1: Add Melted Butter and Sugars
In a mixing bowl, add the melted butter, white sugar, and brown sugar. Whisk vigorously until the mixture becomes thick and smooth. This step helps create a rich, moist texture and enhances the flavour.
Step 2: Mash the Bananas
In a separate bowl, mash the ripe bananas using a fork until smooth with a few small lumps. This adds natural sweetness and moisture, making the bread soft and flavourful.
Step 3: Add the Wet Ingredients
Now, whisk in the eggs, vanilla extract, mashed bananas, and yogurt until everything is well combined. This is where all the moisture and flavour come in!
Step 4: Add the Dry Ingredients
Gently fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture. Be careful not to overmix you just want everything combined. Overmixing can make the bread dense instead of soft and fluffy!
Step 5: Add the Chocolate Chunks
Now for the best part! Fold in the chocolate chunks or chocolate chips, making sure they’re evenly distributed for that perfect chocolatey bite.
Step 6: Pour & Bake
Pour the batter into a greased and lined 9×5” loaf pan. Bake in a preheated oven at 165°C for about 45 minutes to 1 hour, or until a toothpick inserted in the centre comes out clean with a few moist crumbs.
Step 7: Let It Cool & Enjoy!
Once baked, top with extra chocolate chunks for an extra indulgent touch. Let the bread cool completely before slicing this helps it hold its shape. Now, grab a slice and enjoy every soft, chocolatey bite!

The best bananas for banana bread are super ripe, soft, and covered in brown spots. The darker they are, the sweeter and more flavourful your bread will be!
